“When the bees disappear from this world, the existence of the human race will end only four years later.” -Albert Einstein
The coexistence between bees and plants has led to the well-being of humans as well as the earth as a whole. The bee is a communal insect and is a friend of all. By pollinating the flowers, bees make a valuable contribution to increase crop yields and sustain the next generation of crops. Also, important products like honey, beeswax, pollen, royal jelly, bee venom and propolis are obtained from bees, which makes it possible to start a business and create self-employment. But the use of certain types of agricultural inputs that are harmful to the environment is causing bee extinction and is a very serious matter. If the bee is destroyed, the reproduction of the plant may be reduced and the whole ecosystem may be extinct. With this in mind, beekeeping should be taken seriously. The ability to produce food grains for the growing population of the future is not found in any other inputs and technology except bees, which need to be used to increase agricultural production.
A bee garden has been created in an area of two acres. A 150 feet long tunnel has been constructed to provide detailed information about the history, species, lifestyle, working methods, bee production of bees. This information is also given through videos. The bee garden has bee keeping equipment and also provides detailed information about it. There are colonies of bee species, Sateri, Italian and Trigona, from which information is given through demonstrations. Bee products are also kept here. Detailed information about bees can also be found by walking around easily through the selfie point and overall structure in the bee garden. It can be said that, this is the first time in Maharashtra that a bee garden has been set up in this way.
The Baswant Bee Training Center was set up to conduct demonstration based training programs to promote bee keeping. Up-to-date services for bee training are available here. The training program can be conducted in a very playful atmosphere as it creates the necessary environment for training. Not only the spacious training hall but also the outside environment is conducive to the study of bees, so the idea of bees comes to mind only after coming to this center.
Pollination services are known to provide substantial benefits to human populations and agriculture in particular. Although many species are known to provide pollination services, honeybees are often assumed to provide the majority of these services to agriculture. Baswant Honeybee Park & Training Centre rents out bee box to local farmers to pollinate different crops; Drumsticks, pomegranate, Mango, Vegetables, Onion, Sunflower. Bees are rented for the entire bloom cycle, which is usually about four weeks long. The price to rent one colony varies from Rs. 1000/- to Rs. 1500/- depending on the type of flower being pollinated. Depending on the variety of flower, growers require from one to six colonies per acre. By using bees to pollinate their fields, growers can expect up to 50% more production.
